Philadelphia Eagles Named Trade Suitor For Disgruntled Star WR
Troy Taormina-USA TODAY Sports

While the Philadelphia Eagles are likely done pursuing sizable moves to alter their roster prior to the 2024 NFL season, Howie Roseman is always open to pulling the trigger on something that improves the team. That kind of situation could present itself in the near future, depending on what happens with other teams around the league.

There are always some surprising roster cuts from teams, as well as players who come available on the trade market.

Speaking on the trade market, there is a situation brewing in Denver with Broncos’ star wide receiver Courtland Sutton. He is in the middle of a contract dispute with the team. Could he end up being shopped via trade prior to the season?

If that does happen, the Eagles are being connected as a possible trade destination for the disgruntled star wideout.

Philadelphia Eagles Named Possible Courtland Sutton Trade Suitor

Eagles Today on Fan Nation suggested that the Eagles could make sense as a landing spot for Sutton. If the Broncos make him available, Philadelphia could view it as an opportunity to create a top-notch wide receiver trio with A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith.

“If Sutton continues to remain away from the team, there’s a chance he could force their hand. If that ends up being the case, Philadelphia could make a lot of sense as a landing spot. A receiver room featuring Brown, Smith, and Sutton is an enticing thought. The Eagles already are loaded offensively but could use some more depth. Sutton could be that option if he is traded.”

So far this offseason, the Eagles have already made a sizable investment into their wide receiver corps. They re-signed both Brown and Smith to lucrative contract extensions. If they were to acquire Sutton, it seems likely that they would not be able to work out a long-term deal to keep him in town.

However, the move could still make sense even one a one-year rental basis.

During the 2023 season with the Broncos, Sutton put together yet another solid season. He caught 59 passes for 772 yards and 10 touchdowns. Those numbers would translate nicely into the Eagles’ offense as the No. 3 option for Jalen Hurts.

Of course, everything would depend on what kind of price tag the Broncos place on Sutton. Philadelphia should not be willing to give up more than a third-round pick and some change to make a deal work. They simply do not have a major need at wide receiver to pour valuable assets into.

There have been reports that the Eagles are looking for a more reliable No. 3 wide receiver. If everything works out, Sutton would be arguably the NFL’s best third option.

Expect to continue hearing the Philadelphia Eagles rumored in potential moves. Roseman and the front office have been aggressive all offseason long, which has warranted these speculations. Sutton likely won’t end up in Philadelphia, but it is entertaining to think about.
